Donated Quilts Auction Information

We had hoped the donated quilts would be auctioned in DC, but the powers that be determined that was not possible, so like many times throughout the year, we quickly shifted gears. It was decided that the donated quilts would be auctioned off one at a time at special events in Pensacola. The first was a gala event during the Blue Angel Homecoming Celebration in November. Cena Harmon’s quilt was auctioned for $4000! This was enough to fund three scholarships for youth to attend the National Flight Academy. A few others have been sold, and the rest will remain on display (probably in the National Flight Academy) until opportunities arise to auction them when they can be prominently featured. The thought was that they would not receive the highest prices possible if they were all offered at one event. When the quilt is auctioned, you will be notified by the National Aviation Foundation.

A few of the auction quilts have been requested by individuals or family members of individuals that are featured in them. Arrangements have been made by the Foundation to accept sealed bids for these quilts, as we are all in agreement that their ultimate home should be with the person that they honor. If you have any questions about this, don’t hesitate to call us. There are some very wonderful stories that we’ll soon share with you about these quilts.
